TODAY’S LOOK | VALENTINE
I had a simple makeup in mind for Valentine’s Day,…
The Met Gala is a major fundraising benefit and it serves as an opening celebration for the Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. After the event, the exhibition runs for several months.
This year’s theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass”. Each year the event has a theme, and includes a cocktail hour and a formal dinner. You can find more about the event here.
And since it’s an event that gathers lots of celebrities, I’ve reached my “makeup look” radar and chose my favourite ones. Let’s see them
Her makeup focus point are the eyes and the blunt eyebrows just make it perfect! Her eye makeup is a thick wing-out line along the lash line, a soft cat eye I might say. Her face is flawless and glowy with a touch of blush across the apples of her cheeks. The lips are neutral to keep the focus around the head piece and eye area.
You can easily achieve this eye makeup, by using a gel eyeliner.
2. Dakota Johnson
Dakota wore a graphic wing liner to match her Chanel dress. Or at least that’s the vision that her makeup artist Pati Dubroff had I personally think that it looks harsh and incomplete, but I can’t say that I hate it. And it’s definitely a change to her look since the launch of 50 Shades of Grey.
3 Jessica Alba
Now that’s what I call an elaborated makeup. I love this reversed smokey eyes, even more because it uses brown shades and eyeliner on the top eyelid. The eyeliner is smudged and it creates perfect harmony with the smokey effect from the bottom lid.
The look is finished with sculpted cheek bones and nude lips.
4. Miley Cyrus
Wow! Miley without pink lips and wearing a natural makeup! That actually looks really good. She used a natural contouring on her cheek bones and a little bit of illuminator on the apples of the cheeks. The lips are natural, with only a lipgloss and I think she used several coats of mascara on the lashes.
If you want to recreate this look, you have to make sure to create a perfect looking, but also natural skin. Try using a wet foundation sponge: after you apply the foundation using a foundation brush, just tap the sponge all over the face.
Let me know what are your favourite looks from the most exclusive social event in New York. I hope you agree that, with a little bit of patience (and skilful hands :P), you can recreate most of them.
